Description | The need to understand and practice the basic tools, knowledge required to successful move products globally is a contributing factor in a company's competitiveness in the global marketplace. You will be immersed with discussion and practical applications defining advantages and disadvantages of the different modes of transportation. You will become familiar with transportation terminology, the relevant documentation and its completion. The course provides you with the knowledge such as how to determine "chargeable" weight for each mode, determine freight costs, packaging and insurance requirements. Transportation mode specifics such as types of equipment used,routing,lead times and loading consideration are explained. A thorough examination of Incoterms 2010, it's implication on global trade, and how it contributes to the overall freight costs is analysed. The courses further looks at the interaction logistics have with the other pertinent players involved with both the global supply chain and international trade. |
