Description

Child and Youth Care workers are specialists in facilitating change in youth who are experiencing a range of social, emotional or behavioural challenges in their lives. Child and Youth Care workers need to use strategies that include counselling and group work. They will be working with increasingly larger and more diverse groups.

This course will examine the theoretical aspects of group process in the practice of Child and Youth Care. The learner will gain knowledge of recognizing the elements of an effective group to include the stages, roles, leadership, communication patterns, and essential components that contribute to group dynamics. In class activities will contribute to the student’s ability to participate in small group process.
