Description | This course will provide an opportunity for students to develop a holistic view of health that is based on the premise that a child's emotional and social well being impacts overall health. Students will explore topics related to children's social, emotional and physical health and integrate this information with their knowledge about diversity, child development and partnerships with families. The importance of supporting and responding to each child's physical needs, social relationships and emotional development will be emphasized. Topics such as bullying, childhood stress, and sexuality will be addressed. Students will design health curriculum experiences that reflect the developmental needs and interests of individual children, incorporate varied dimensions of well being, and encourage children’s learning of lifelong habits. |
