Description

This course will survey the history of world art, including painting, sculpture and architecture, from prehistoric times to the Seventeenth century, and will focus on the examination of parallel cultures in the terms of spirituality, the self, nature and the city. The context of art will be examined in terms of identification, description, analysis, interpretation and evaluation. A variety of delivery techniques including visits to museums and galleries, lectures, in-class discussions, research involving text and the Internet, and instruction on writing about art, will be used. Regular attendance in this course is mandatory.
