Description | In this course, students will develop the skills necessary to collect qualitative data using a diverse range of techniques, such as interviews, focus groups, observations, and document analysis. Students will learn to collect rich and meaningful data, ensuring data quality and trustworthiness during the collection phase. Ethical considerations will be integrated into learning, covering topics such as informed consent, confidentiality, and data anonymization in qualitative data collection. The course will equip students with techniques for human-centered qualitative data analysis, including coding, thematic analysis, content analysis, and narrative analysis. Students will gain the ability to interpret qualitative data, identifying patterns, themes, and meanings that emerge from complex human experiences. By the course's end, students will be skilled in presenting narratives, quotes, and visual representations that vividly capture human experiences. Additionally, students will develop self-awareness regarding biases and assumptions, allowing students to approach research with openness, sensitivity, empathy, and reflexivity. |
