Description | This course examines historical and modern discoveries and innovations in medicines and biotechnologies that have played a role in extending human longevity. Students will learn the basic science behind antibiotics, 3D-printing, emergence of superbugs and the future of artificial intelligence in medicine and discuss their impact from social, ethical and moral perspectives. As the life expectancy will likely to continue to extend in the coming decades with recent innovations that allow personalized medicine, the course will also look ahead into the near future at new possibilities in our quest to extend human longevity. |
