Description | This course provides students with a critical understanding of the links between international development and human rights in theory and practice including the “right to development.” The course introduces students to the politics and practice of the economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights. Students examine international human rights principles and standards and those at regional, national and local levels, and how they are reflected in discussions and policies on trade and investment, foreign aid, poverty alleviation and environmental protection, as well as in mandates, programs and activities of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and international development organizations. |
