Description | This integrated skills course is designed to develop basic academic reading, writing, listening, speaking and study skills. The receptive skills of reading and listening taught and practiced in this course increase and enhance students' ability to analyze and interpret meaning from adapted texts on familiar contemporary issues. The productive skills of writing and speaking are used to develop appropriate, logical and well-structured language in different written forms, in face-to-face communication and digital formats in predicable, non-demanding contexts. To develop clearer communication, aspects of English pronunciation and strategies to increase vocabulary knowledge are practiced throughout the course. Students also learn the skills, such as participating in pair and group activities and locating academic information, required for college study and academic success. |
