Inclusion of Children with Special Needs

Description

Fundamental to this course is the belief that the inclusion of children with special needs with typically developing children in childcare programs is an enriching experience for everyone, including children, families, caregivers and the community. Through a variety of lectures, workshops, books and videos, students will acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values needed to provide children with special needs, the opportunity to fully participate in the program and learn in the least restrictive environment.  The importance of collaboration among early childhood educators, families and community agencies will be emphasized.

Note: Minimum C grade. Pre-requisites: Semester 2 ECEP courses, ECEP 231.
