Description | ‘Inclusive Recreation’ guides students through the theory and practice of therapeutic recreation programming in a way that fully prepares them to work effectively in the industry. The approach focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of therapeutic recreation services. Therapeutic recreation is concerned with direct delivery of services to clients with disabilities, illnesses, or special needs. Theoretically, students will study concepts associated with the practice of therapeutic recreation, including various foundation models of therapeutic recreation. Practical experience will include an exploration of the segregation /integration continuum, program adaptation, activity analysis and the role of Recreationist in advocacy and community integration. |
