Description
This second semester course emphases on inorganic reactions and phenomenon present in microbiological systems. The chemistry of the predominant biological elements of groups I to VII will be discussed. The student will have a theoretical understanding of the principles of inorganic chemical phenomenon including partially soluble substances, weak acids and bases, buffer systems and redox reactions. In addition, a basic understanding of the chemistry of the biologically important elements (H, C, N, O, K, Na, Ca, Mg, P, S, CI and some transitional elements) will be explored.
