| Description | This semester-long Integrated Core Skills course, divided into two seven-weeks parts (Part A: Weeks 1-7 and Part B: Weeks 8-14), equips high-intermediate English Language learners with the reading, writing and critical thinking skills essential for success in academic settings. The course is built on a project-based learning model where students engage with relevant, real-world themes. In Part A (Society and Health), learners will analyze contemporary issues and project a comprehensive written portfolio that includes both informative and persuasive texts. In Part B (Learning and Creativity), learners will explore concepts in design and education, culminating in a formal business proposal for an innovative resource. Throughout the course, students will strengthen their proficiency in complex grammatical structures, apply APA's most recent edition formatting, and develop a repertoire of reading strategies. An emphasis on digital literacy, peer collaboration and self-reflection prepares learners for the demands of post-secondary studies at Centennial College. |
