| Description | Students will learn how buyers and sellers determine and manage risks associated with the movement of product(s) in international transactions. They will learn the mechanics of international payments, how to determine the value of cargo insurance, create and understand the complexity of a variety of commercial documents and the Incoterms classification system. Students will determine the various types of packaging requirements needed to reduce the risks of damage and other cargo losses as well as the required due diligence of the shipper/freight forwarder to meet cargo security measures. Learners will gain an understanding of the process/procedures/documents required to transport dangerous goods in the multimodal world of logistics. Students will also learn the process through which costs are determined and quoted as well as recommend alternative transportation solutions. This is the first (see also International Freight Forwarding) of two courses that prepare learners to obtain the CIFFA (Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association) certificate. |
