Description | This course is for the student who wishes to become familiar with basic diesel engine designs and operation. Topics include combustion in a diesel engine, combustion chamber designs, engine performance characteristics, engine emissions and construction of major engine systems. Orientation to diesel fuel injection covers diesel fuel properties, injection pumps, governors, injector nozzles, unit injection and electronic engine controls. Lab time is utilized for component identification and familiarization with common service practices. Note: Safety boots and safety goggles must be work in the lab areas. You will be denied access to labs if you are dressed inappropriately. |
