Description | This course provides an overview of emergency management including the systems and processes for preventing, mitigating, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies and disasters. The student will learn about the key provisions of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. The student will also have the opportunity to identify the roles and responsibilities of various levels of government and other key organizations involved in emergency management. Course content contains a unit of Crowd Science that supports understanding crowd density, crowd flow rates, crowd dynamics for incident planning and response when large crowds are either encountered or planned for. The content of this course can be utilized in diverse practice settings such as: corporate, community, public and not-for-profit organizations.
