Description | The Middle East GNED course provides a comprehensive exploration of the region's diverse histories, identities, and geopolitics within a global context. Students will gain insights into the rich, exotic, and multifarious history of the Middle East. The curriculum is covering aspects like religions, diasporic cultures, social mobilities, economies, politics, and global misconceptions, and exploring its connections with Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Through lectures, discussions, and readings, students will also learn about the role of art, media, music, literature and examine the diverse religious, ethnic, and linguistic groups, along with current social, economic, and political challenges. Emphasis is placed on fostering critical thinking and debates on social justice issues, including unjust practices, human rights, and women's rights, to develop a well-rounded understanding of the Middle East and its global intersections. |
