| Description | As recreationists, we value leisure and the importance it plays in people's lives; we understand leisure as being integral to people's wellness. Leisure education, a process of learning about leisure, includes promoting healthy leisure, advocating and educating for the need of leisure in our lives. The educational aspect of the course covers several different ways that leisure education can be advocated, from displays, to workshops to seminars. The counselling aspect helps individuals and groups identify: what leisure means to each of them, different approaches to leisure and why people make the leisure choices they do. The Leisure Education course is about utilizing specific skills to ultimately assist clients in the creation of a leisure action plan. (These skills include cognitive as well as experiential methods.) In addition, the course identifies resources and strategies to implement those plans.
