Description |
Ordinary language can be highly deceptive, and the sophisticated use of certain words and phrases can trick and mislead the unsuspecting. Learn how to distinguish language used for different purposes such as description, explanation, and argument, and see how arguments are used to persuade and convince. Sharpen your thinking skills by examining the foundations of good and poor arguments as used in everyday life - in advertising, science, ethics, health, and the law. Develop skill by practicing with the three conditions that make a good argument: acceptability, relevance, and good grounds. |
