Description

The course is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of design philosophies and techniques applicable to aircraft structures, and general mechanical and machine design. Students will build on their earlier-learned principles of strength of materials, materials science and manufacturing processes. The course covers materials in aircraft structure, machine design, stress and deformation analysis, and design of structures for static and fatigue load. Some common fasteners and their design philosophies will be discussed. The competencies gained from this course are useful for aerospace product design and general mechanical design.
