Description

This course is the introductory course for Advanced Mental Health. Cover the health care delivery system with a focus on the consumer movement and community action for mental health reform. Discuss the role of the community mental health nurse. Examine complex issues about competency, informed consent and treatment while explaining social and professional values and ethics. The course examines how the nurse applies knowledge of epidemiology in the care of the mentally ill. You will examine how the social, cultural, economic and political environment of mental health will influence practice.
