This course aims to provide students with the analytical tools to develop legal solutions in international development. The course begins with a review of legal theories of development, and different practices around the world in areas related to law such as property rights and governance. It then discusses the link among international human rights standards, the role of international organizations such as the United Nations, the World Bank and the IMF, and equitable development among nations. Consideration will be made to both emerging economies as well as poor and post-conflict countries.
