| Description | Students will be introduced to the exciting field of molecular biology through an analysis of its origins, exploration of its key concepts, and an investigation into its future potential. Using an interactive and engaging approach, the lectures and tutorials in this course will focus on genes, genomes, functional genomics, and the major tools and techniques used in the field of molecular biology. Students will examine the structure, function, expression, manipulation and analysis of genes and will describe the major principles underlying the experimental techniques and high-throughput technologies used to generate major nucleotide-based data types. Students will also develop a solid command of the complex “language” of biology. |
