| Description | This course consists of a clinical and laboratory component. In the laboratory, internationally educated nurses will continue to practice and develop competency in nursing skills within the scope of practice of the Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario. Students will examine and apply principles of growth and development from the infant to the adolescent. Using case studies in lab, students will participate in practice scenarios involving the care of the hospitalized child, clients with mental illness and end-of-life care. Students will participate in the assessment of the postpartum woman and newborn in the laboratory. Internationally-educated nurses and Canadian practical nurses will have an opportunity to apply nursing knowledge and skills in acute or chronic clinical practice setting. Students will also practice in a variety of simulated scenarios as members of the interprofessional team. |
