Observing Child Development

Description
Students in this course will become familiar with the general concepts of child development and the terminology used. This course provides opportunities to explore and understand the importance of observations in young children. Students will engage in several classroom activities, which will allow them to learn and practice a variety of observational tools used in the field of Early Childhood Education. This course will also examine the major schools of developmental theory. Students will recognize the importance of the family, culture and society and its impact on children’s development. At the end of this course, students will have the general knowledge and skills of observation and child development for the in-depth modules that will follow this course.
