Description | In this course, students will learn about hazard identification, assessment and control techniques relevant to chemical, physical and biological agents. They will learn about sampling techniques, the use of analytical equipment and other techniques for determining the risks and exposure limits of these agents. Students will study the importance of legal compliance as it relates to controlling exposure to chemical, physical and biological hazards. They will examine the role of the occupational hygienist in controlling these hazards. Students will learn about the routes of entry of these agents, the structure of major body organs and how they can be affected from hazardous exposure in the workplace. Students will learn about the analysis and application of Threshold Limit Values and Occupational Exposure Values as it pertains to specific industry-based chemicals and other hazards. |
