This course will examine how concepts of disease processes affect physiologic and
psychosocial health. Concepts include inflammation and healing, infection, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, the influence of stress and pain. Selected disorders of the respiratory, neurological and endocrine system will be examined. Internationally-educated nurses will be expected to review anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as it pertains to each related body system.
Students will be introduced to foundations and principles of pharmacotherapeutics.
Pharmacotherapy related to each concept and disorder will be examined using the prototype approach to drug classification.
