Description
This course is offered in the 5th Semester of the Computer Systems Technology Program and is intended to develop Personal Computer hardware knowledge, operating system knowledge and acquire practical "hands-on" skills. This course uses IBM PC compatible computers to achieve this goal. The technical concepts and terminology of the PC's internal and external components as well as several operating systems (DOS6.22, Windows 3.xx, Windows 95/98 and Linux )are developed in detail. This course contains a very high lab content. Students learn assembling, installing and configuring techniques for microcomputer systems, peripheral devices and associated software and run tests to ensure the correct functioning of the assembled systems. Two hours per week of Lectures, Six hours per week of hands-on labs.
