Description

This course provides the learner opportunity to learn the basic principles of pharmacology and how drugs enter and act in tissues. Pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, adverse drug reactions, and drug interactions are explored using examples of key drugs within each drug classification, emphasizing therapeutic actions used to treat a variety of health conditions.

Using an experiential and constructivist approach the learner will explore the Registered Nurse's (RN) roles and responsibilities for safe medication administration, enabling students to develop critical thinking and critical inquiry skills in relation to drug therapy. Medications will be reviewed and aligned by indication and classification. The student will have the opportunity to apply learnings to the clinical practicum setting.
