Course CodeROBO-122
Lecture hours per week2
Lab hours per week2
Course AvailabilityOpen
Description
A significant proportion of automated and manual systems in manufacturing plants around the world utilize pneumatic actuators for fast reliable operation. This course provides the student with an understanding of the components of a basic pneumatic system. The design and operation of each device from compressor to actuator will be examined. The student will also study the application of several Physics concepts used to correctly select modern pneumatic automation equipment. In addition, the student will be encouraged to develop a systems approach to pneumatic machinery, by determining the effects on the entire system caused by changing individual components. This course is primarily theory supported with some hands-on lab activities. The scheduling may vary on a weekly basis but will be provided at the beginning of the semester.
