| Description | This course introduces students to the operation of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), which are widely used to control pneumatic devices in modern factories. The electronic power control concepts from ESET-211 can be adapted to create PLC programs for a variety of applications. Building on these skills, new techniques are developed to take advantage of the expanded capabilities of modern PLCs. The components of a typical PLC are examined, and various configurations are evaluated. Since any control system is only as effective as the information supplied to it, the wide range of sensors used in the automation industry is also explored. Theory topics are reinforced in laboratory sessions using current industrial tools and equipment. |
