Students will then study the poem, the play, and finish the course with the short story/novel, developing an understanding of how authors use different types of writing for different purposes, relating to audiences in their use of content, language, structure, tone, and literary devices. Students will learn essay structure and techniques and write several short analysis-based response papers over the course of the semester.
