| Description | Examine the social, political and economic forces that contribute to the oppression and marginality of particular groups within society, and why certain groups are more likely to be clients of social services agencies. Look at the relationship between social inequality and being a social service recipient, and become familiar with the social, political and economic construction of marginalization. Investigate the role of systemic inequalities with particular reference to power, oppression, and privilege. Explore the role of the media throughout the course. |
