| Description | This course provides a comprehensive and systematic exploration of the roots, realities, and consequences of social inequality. Students examine how class, gender, anti-Black racism, race/ethnicity, and broader social, political, and economic structures shape power, privilege, and oppression across communities. Through an anti-oppressive and social justice lens, learners analyze how inequality is produced, reinforced, and contested within social institutions, including the media. Throughout the course, students reflect on their own social location, power, and privilege alongside the ethical and professional responsibilities of human service work, developing culturally responsive, equity-focused practices that support meaningful and sustainable change. |
