Practical Nursing Pathophysiology/Pharmacotherapeutics 1

Description

This course examines the basic concepts of disease processes which affect physiologic and psychosocial health.  Concepts include stress, anxiety, inflammation, cellular injury and healing, infection, fever, pain, immobility, and fluid and electrolyte imbalances.  This course also examines diabetes mellitus and selected disorders of the nervous and respiratory systems.

This course also will explore foundations and principles of pharmacology, including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and pharmacotherapeutics.  Drug action across the lifespan will also be examined. The concept of drug classification will be introduced and classifications specific to the concepts and disorders identified above will be discussed.
