| Description | This course examines the role of the practical nurse in caring for individuals and families across the lifespan who are experiencing acute or chronic health conditions. The exploration of the nurse’s role in end-of-life care will be discussed, including the philosophy and activities of hospice and palliative care. The application of the nursing process for clients experiencing acute or chronic mental health issues, and alterations in the cardiovascular, immune, musculoskeletal, renal, gastrointestinal, and reproductive systems will be examined. Preoperative and postoperative nursing care will be discussed. In addition, the application of the nursing process for the antepartum and postpartum client and family will be examined. Current trends in the health care environment will be addressed. |
