| Description | This highly interactive course provides the students with the necessary theoretical concepts and applied knowledge and skills for managing a variety of prehospital medical and traumatic emergencies. Particular emphasis is place on advanced patient assessment, ECG rhythm interpretation and cardiac emergencies, incorporation of symptom relief pharmacology into patient care and intravenous and intraossesous access and fluid administration. The course has two main components: Classroom and laboratory instruction with a concurrent clinical experience. The intent of the program is to integrate theory and practice through simulated and real experiences in a controlled environment. There will be a strong emphasis on assessment, critical thinking and decision making in all areas of the course. |
