Preschool and School-Age Learning

Course CodeKD-121
Lecture hours per week
Lab hours per week
Course AvailabilityOpen
Description
Working with preschool and school age children is both exciting and challenging. In this course we will build upon the knowledge gained in the courses Infant and Toddler Development and The Learning Environment. Students will have the opportunity to learn and practice additional observation techniques and to use these observations as a basis for planning and implementing experiences with children.  The course will focus on the developmental milestones of preschool and school age children in each of the developmental domains (physical, social, cognitive and language).  Students will use this information to plan developmentally appropriate experiences based on the interests of the children in their care. Some of the curriculum areas to be explored include creative art, music and movement, science and math.
Prerequisites: KD119 and KD120
