| Description | In this course students will learn the basic concepts of chemistry. Product chemistry is taught as well as advanced ingredient technology. Students will be introduced to the history of cosmetic preparations leading to today’s products. The concepts of synthetic versus natural cosmetics are explored as are commercial versus professional. Particular attention will be paid to the basic ingredients and their purpose. Pharmacology is taught to prepare students for prescription skin care and antibiotics and their effects. |
