| Description | This course is designed for post-graduate certificate students of the School of Communications, Media, Arts and Design. It is an introductory professional English communications course designed to give students the opportunity to review and improve key elements of grammar, vocabulary, editing, reading and listening comprehension skills that are essential to professional success in their chosen field of study in the Canadian context. Writing formats covered in this course include emails, letters, and memoranda, short proposals and/or reports. Students who need to take this course are the ones who score 160/161 on the English Placement Test. Students with a score of 140/141 or lower should take the corresponding COMM course before taking this course. The maximum number of students in each class is 30. The passing grade is 60% (C). This course is delivered synchronously or face-to-face. The synchronous version may adopt a hybrid model – 1 hour of synchronous and 2 hours of asynchronous learning. |
