Description | The purpose of this course is to provide students with an introduction to the study of propaganda, rhetoric and persuasion and their influences on our behaviours, beliefs, opinions, attitudes and actions. Understanding propaganda, rhetoric and persuasion help us to shape our understanding of the social, political and economic foundations and workings of society. Students will explore various concepts and theories that are fundamental to the study of propaganda. In addition, students will examine how propaganda, rhetoric and persuasion have been used historically to influence and direct the trajectories of society, politics, the media, public relations, advertising, wars and conflicts. During this examination, students will analyze the propaganda, rhetoric and persuasion methods and sources used by powerful individuals, groups and institutions to exercise domination, power and control. |
