Description

This course develops the student's understanding of foundational journalistic principles. Students focus on story generation and digital story structure and delivery. Students will develop techniques for finding and securing sources, gathering information via interviews, preparing for coverage of events and writing clear, concise and accurate news stories. Classroom work includes dissecting story structure and learning how to write a headline, lede and nut graph. Students will also practice how to incorporate quotes into writing for journalism. The CP Style Guide is used as reference for grammar, spelling and punctuation. The course will help students develop their own content for future print and online publication.
