Description | Building on students’ foundational knowledge from Reporting 1, this course focuses on applying journalistic skills to broadcast journalism through the production of radio news stories and newscasts. Students are also provided with an introduction to podcasting infused with Indigenous themes, as well as the use of sound in audio storytelling. Class discussion around current events (prompted by regular news quizzes) will help student reporters understand how stories are developed, edited and reported on radio. The course will help reporters develop contacts, get away from desks and out into the community finding stories and improve interviewing skills. The classroom becomes a community where the faculty editor and classroom peers provide feedback and coaching. |
