Description | This course will examine the contribution of research in the development of the field of health studies. Students will gain an understanding of the various components of the research process through actual engagement in a semester-long research project. This practical application will enable students to explore the relationship between research and knowledge, theory and practice in a way that relates to the work environment to which they will find employment. The focus of the course will be on interpreting and evaluating health and wellness research studies, applying research findings to practice situations and identifying areas for further health and wellness research. Students will explore both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies along with the ethical conduct of research, writing research proposals and applying for research grants. Strategies for critically reviewing, integrating and disseminating research findings will be discussed. Total Hours: 45 hours |
