Description | The intention of this course is to introduce the process of research and discuss the relevance of research to the work of Developmental Services Workers. Lectures will include the research process, research findings, and how research can influence our lives. Students will also be introduced to the theory and process of qualitative social science research. Students will use the knowledge and skills gained through the class lectures to locate and review recent and relevant research related to problem solving issues they may come across in the field and while on placement. Discussions will include how the findings of social science research serves to keep people working in the field of disability informed, so that they are able to put forth practices that will best serve the people they support.
