Description

This course introduces the student to the residential group care of children and youth. The course is designed to provide the student with an understanding and working knowledge of a variety of behaviour management techniques as well as methods to help develop therapeutic relationships with emotionally disturbed children. The course will also focus on the components necessary to establish and maintain a therapeutic milieu and include such issues as goal plans, communication networks, staff relationships, and the separation process for both young people and staff. Minimum 'C' Grade, Pre-requisite CYW-100.
