Description | Eating habits in Canada have changed dramatically in the last 20 years. More than 60% of the food consumed is prepared in restaurants, cafes, mobile food trucks, cafeterias, or institutional kitchens. The danger of eating contaminated food is much greater today due to the fact that many people are involved in the preparation of our food. Industry, therefore, is hiring employees with the Food Handler certification. Furthermore, in Ontario, it is the law for all employees who serve or handle alcohol, to be Smart Serve certified. This certification represents the social responsibility industry members have to guests and public safety. This course provides students with basic sanitation principles and practices for a food-service operation using the TrainCan BASICS.fst online program including an industry examination to earn the TrainCan Basics Food Safety Training certification. The learner will adopt the fundamentals of the safe service of alcohol through the SmartServe program. Successful completion of online training and examination will result in the achievement of the SmartServe certification. Learners will also participate in the online and practical training for Emergency First Aid/CPR thus earning them the Canadian Red Cross Emergency First Aid/CPR C certificate. Together, these three industry certifications compliment the learner’s portfolio and will prepare learners to enter the labs, kitchens, event spaces and industry. |
