Description | NUPD 735 is divided into two separate, but related subjects: Scholarly Writing and Nursing Leadership. Part 1 of this course focuses on developing skills and strategies necessary for researchers, readers and writers of scholarly work to articulate and compose papers and assignments in a logical, critical-thinking manner that is consistent with the most current edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) formatting and styles guide. Learners will develop information literacy skills by accessing peer-reviewed content through Centennial’s library and completing a literature review of a selected topic. Additionally, learners will explore academic integrity, plagiarism, and professional text-based communication. Part 2 of this course explores the evolving role of the nurse-leader. Learners will examine the roles and responsibilities of the nurse-leader in various organizational structures, applicable leadership theories, and the concepts and principles that drive change. Supporting topics of professionalism, accountability, communication, conflict resolution, collaboration, regulatory guidelines and inter/intraprofessional relations will provide learners with an increased understanding of the current and emerging nurse-leader role. |
