| Description | This comprehensive course is designed to provide students with the mandatory training requirements to write the Ontario security guard licensing exam. The course is comprised of the Ministry approved syllabus as well as additional self-directed study. The course provides foundational knowledge and skills required to apply for a security guard licence in Ontario under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act (PSISA), regulated by the Ministry of the Solicitor General. Successful course students will be provided with a training completion number by the college in order to write the security guard licensing exam at Services Ontario. This course prepares students to perform the duties of a professional security guard in a safe, lawful, and ethical manner. Participants will develop an understanding of the legal authorities and limitations governing private security, including relevant sections of the Criminal Code, the Trespass to Property Act, PSISA, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code. The course also provides students with an expedited opportunity to employment in the security industry without the cost of an external training program. A course add-on of Emergency First Aid & CPR Level C certification will be provided at the college (additional fee) and is required as part of the criteria to successfully complete this course and write the licensing exam.
