Description | This course is intended to expose students to the identification and characteristics of aluminum alloys; the proper handling and storage of sheet metal; the procedures for layout; cutting and drilling of sheet metal; the identification and installation of rivets; along with the inspection and rivet removal techniques. Forming and binding sheet metal using bend allowance calculations and the forming of joggles will also be discussed. The process required to fabricate a repair on a simulated pressurized skin with supporting documentation following the airworthiness manual will be explained. Aircraft construction will be discussed, identifying the parts of an aircraft and stress and load distribution, as they would apply to an aircraft structure. |
