Students will learn how social policies and legislation inform social service work in the areas of legal accountability, standards of practice, civil and legal responsibility and as the primary response by governments to social problems. Through application of information and technical literacy, learners will critically examine the social policies and relevant legislation that affect the delivery of social services and programs that relate specifically to client populations.

  4. Describe the effects of ideology on major policy shifts such as globalization, free trade, debt reduction on clients, workers and the delivery of social programs.
